There are neighborhoods in the city that have yet to witness the record-breaking levels of value appreciation.  One such area is the Chinatown/ID neighborhood. While there aren’t many houses in this area, there are condos, and when compared to nearby areas like Cap Hill or Belltown, the ID just hasn’t seen the same kind of appreciation.  We have buyers ask if Chinatown would make for a good investment and if so, when it might pay off to be a property owner there.  The reality is we are just not sure what the situation in the ID will be in the future.  Persistent crime and homelessness affect businesses and housing desirability.  A recent article lays out some of the problems here that city officials still have not resolved to anyone’s satisfaction.
