Long-time and life-long locals often commiserate together over how much our area has changed, especially so in recent years as the influx of people/technology/attention/ideas has increased. Aside from worsening traffic and higher prices, there have been other “growing pains.” The City People’s in Madison Park, for example, has lost its lease; it will be redeveloped into a PCC with 70+ apartment units above it. While we may applaud Amazon’s dominance and the economic prosperity it has brought, other local brick & mortar retailers – like Nordstrom’s – has found the era of e-commerce to be a cut-throat pricing game. On a more personal level, I will miss the little hole-in-the wall Thai lunch spot that was forced out late last year so that the property can be developed into a mixed-used building with a designer name.
